Patricia Olson, MD

2023 CLINICAL RESEARCH TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP IN MIGRAINE

Title/Institution: Visiting Assistant Professor of Neurology, Indiana University

Project Title: “A comparison of cell types and genetic variants associated with CGRP response in patients with migraine”

Several factors contribute to the development of a migraine disorder, including genetic predisposition. However, the impact of genetics on patients’ response to migraine treatment remains unclear.

The goal of Dr. Olson’s research project is to study genetic variants in the context of response to CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide) monoclonal antibody migraine preventative treatment. This work has the potential to identify biomarkers of migraine treatment response, which can then be used to tailor effective therapies to individual patients.
