Natalie Katz, MD, PhD

2023 CLINICAL RESEARCH TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP IN NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASE

Title/Institution: Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Duke University

Project Title: “Development of novel imaging biomarkers for use in pediatric facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy”

Advances in pediatric neuromuscular disease are changing the way we practice medicine. As a result, there is a need to develop outcome measures that do not rely on traditional strength-based assessments.

Funding from this award will allow Dr. Katz to begin the process of validating imaging-based techniques as a way to monitor disease progression and measure change in response to therapeutic interventions, so that we may continue to push the boundaries of practicing medicine in neurology.
