Indira García-Cordero, PhD

Project Title: “Multimodal evidence of the role of Alzheimer’s disease pathology in corticobasal and supranuclear palsy syndromes”

Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) are two neurodegenerative syndromes that are both characterized by changes in personality, cognition, and motor function. Both syndromes also have a high presence of comorbid Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology.

Dr. Garcia Cordero’s research will study Alzheimer’s disease pathology by combining biomarkers and neuroimaging data. The results of her study will contribute to more accurate in-vivo clinical-pathological classifications and to identify profiles of patients that may benefit from early pharmacologic therapy. In addition, these results may tell us about the occurrence of co-pathology across all neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Garcia Cordero is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Toronto.

This research is funded by The Holloway Family Fund at The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, and the Bob Burros Family Memorial Fund of the American Brain Foundation, in collaboration with the American Academy of Neurology.
