No biological factors completely explain the patterns of Alzheimer’s disease risk, though recent evidence suggests socio-behavioral influences are linked with accumulation of Alzheimer’s disease pathology. These influences, which we might be able to improve, remain unexplained—likely due to the current lack of tools for measuring these social influences which might be harnessed for Alzheimer’s disease interventions.

Dr. Salinas’s proposed research holds great promise in advancing our understanding of social and behavioral factors in Alzheimer’s disease and represents a crucial step towards developing more effective treatment and preventive strategies to preserve brain health in Alzheimer’s disease.
