Shelly Collins Rucks, Director of Development

Shelly has spent more than twenty-five years helping individuals and families make a difference. Shelly started her profession with the Boy Scouts, established the development office at the Minnesota Literacy Council, and was a gift officer with the major gifts team at the Minnesota Historical Society. Prior to joining the American Brain Foundation, she conducted a capital campaign to help build a senior living community; seeing the grave impact of memory loss made it clear that we need to find treatment, prevention and cures for memory loss and all of the other devastating brain disease.

Shelly has experience working with foundations to achieve mutual goals and helping donors make significant gifts, create endowments, and plan legacy gifts. Working with donors to identify and implement their charitable goals is Shelly’s passion. Originally from Colorado, Shelly went to Macalester College where she received her BA in Economics and found her interest in nonprofit work.  She has two grown daughters; she and her husband live in Saint Paul and enjoy time in River Falls along the Kinnikinic River for relaxation.
